The Japan Space Forum (JSF) had conducted the 2nd Training Program under the ASEAN-Japan Project (JAIF Project): Science Based Information Sharing Derived from Earth Observation Satellites for Agriculture Management in the ASEAN Region on 24 November 2021 as an online training. The project is an initiative implementation under the purview of the Sub-Committee on Space Technology and Applications (SCOSA) of ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation (COSTI) with the support from JAIF.
On 11 November 2021, AFSIS Secretariat and Department of Planning and Statistics (DPS), Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), the Kingdom of Cambodia had hold an online Enumerator Training as a part of project for Supporting Agricultural Survey on Promoting Sustainable Agriculture in ASEAN Region (SAS-PSA project) in Cambodia.
On 27 October 2021, the Stakeholders Meeting was conducted out of the collaboration between AFSIS Secretariat and Department of Planning and Statistics (DPS), Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), the Kingdom of Cambodia as a Video Conference for Project for Supporting Agricultural Survey on Promoting Sustainable Agriculture (SAS-PSA) in Cambodia.
On the 20 September 2021, the National Agri-food Information System (NAIS) project has been successfully published on the website of Observatory of Public Sector Innovation (OPSI). This project was the implementation by the ASEAN Food Security Information System (AFSIS) in cooperation with EPIS, Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs, South Korea to conduct an ICT-based agricultural data management system in 6 ASEAN member countries namely Indonesia, Lao PDR, Cambodia, Philippines, Vietnam, and Myanmar.
Tropical Cyclone DIANMU which is originated from the South China Sea has moved to the Northwestern and Central areas of Vietnam on 23 September 2021. According to the Steering Committees for Disaster Prevention and Control of the localities and VNDMA as of 25 September 2021, Tropical Cyclone DIANMU created damages and affected up to 2,845 families or 14,225 persons with missing 3 people, and injured 3 people. Moreover, this Tropical Cyclone has damaged 2,607 houses and partially damaged 118 houses. Also, there were 201 damaged roads, 5 damaged schools, and the agricultural land damaged of 3,734 hectares consisting of the rice field for 849 hectares, other crops for 2,525 hectares, and livestock lost around 5,402 animals. Nevertheless, the Vietnamese government came out with the supporting policies for all related agencies to proactively collect information, follow up, and monitor closely to this disaster situation and its effects in order to prepare to remedy the damaged roads and buildings as well as take parts in searching the missing persons and relocating the victims to the safer places.
The Center for Agricultural Statistics (CAS), Department of Planning and Finance (DoPF), Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF), Lao PDR, together with AFSIS Secretariat, had conducted a Data Analysis Training in Lao PDR during 6-10 September 2021 as a part of project for Supporting Agricultural Survey on Promoting Sustainable Agriculture in ASEAN Region or SAS-PSA project.
On 1 September 2021, the Department of Planning and Statistics (DPS), Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), the Kingdom of Cambodia, together with AFSIS Secretariat had conducted the virtual meeting of the 1st meeting in Cambodia as a part of the Project for Supporting Agricultural Survey on Promoting Sustainable Agriculture in ASEAN Region (SAS-PSA) for the 3rd year project (2022). According to the Letter of Agreement (LoA) between AFSIS Secretariat and the DPS, MAFF of Cambodia, it was signed on 25 August 2021.
On 24 August 2021, the Special Senior Officials Meeting of the 20th Meeting of the ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry Plus Three (Special SOM-20th AMAF +3) was held virtually as a Video Conference and honorably hosted by Cambodia.
Center for Agricultural Statistics (CAS), Department of Planning and Finance (DoPF), Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF), Lao PDR, had visited Khammouane province on 2 -16 August 2021 to conduct a pilot survey for the project for Supporting Agricultural Survey on Promoting Sustainable Agriculture in ASEAN region or SAS-PSA project.
The ASEAN Food Security Information System (AFSIS) Secretariat along with the Center for Agricultural Information (CAI), Agricultural Development Policy and Planning Division, Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE), Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Thailand, had conducted an In Country Wrap-up Meeting as a part of project for Supporting Agricultural Survey on Promoting Sustainable Agriculture in ASEAN region or SAS-PSA project in Thailand on 17 August 2021 via Zoom application due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
