The Web Meeting on the Development of Training Data for INAHOR Prototyping Project Activity

The Web meeting on the Development of Training Data for INAHOR Prototyping Project Activity, an activity under the “Promote Rice Planted Area Estimation Using Space-Based Technologies” under Asia Pacific Regional Space Forum (APRSAF) Space Applications for Environment (SAFE) initiative, was held on 15 December 2022 as a virtual meeting with 3 target countries, namely Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Vietnam.

There were 22 participants which were Mr. Kimura Shoji, a project conductor from SEAA Research LLC, Mr. Ikeda Ryuki from MAFF of Japan, the representatives of 3 target countries, Ms. Jutaporn Nontasiri, a senior Statistician Professional Levelfrom the Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE), Thailand, while the representatives of AFSIS Secretariat were Dr. Sumanya Ngandee, Deputy AFSIS Manager, Mr. Miyake Yasuhiro, AFSIS Japanese Expert, Ms. Worada Wongsud, Japanese Secretary, and Ms. Prodpran Lomthong, Project Coordinator, attended a meeting.

The objectives of this meeting were to explain a project details and to discuss with target countries regarding a training data development including a training data judgment meeting for INAHOR prototyping project which was planned to conduct in 2 provinces per country. The outcomes of this activity will further apply the pilot survey of agricultural land area estimation activity under the new technical support project funded by the MAFF of Japan entitled SAFER project.

During the meeting, Dr. Sumanya Ngandee was honored with opening, closing remarks and also led a discussion together with Mr. Kimura Shoji to ensure the mutual understanding of the project among all participants.

The meeting was successfully completed with great collaboration from all participants. The INAHOR activity will be started in February 2023.

On 19 March 2026, the AFSIS Secretariat participated in the Asia and the Pacific Food Systems Forum 2026 under the theme “Feeding the Future, Sustaining the Planet” in Manila, the Philippines, organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) .
