On 13 February 2023, AFSIS Secretariat held a meeting with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) under the Space Applications for Environment (SAFE) community with support from JAXA and MAFF of Japan in meeting room 1, Innovation building, Office of Agricultural Economics, Bangkok.
On 9 February 2023, the 2 representatives of the AFSIS Secretariat, Dr. Waraporn Saelee, AFSIS Manager, and Mr. Tanabodee Kheosipalard, Statistician, were invited to be the distinguished guest for the Policy hand-in and Closing Ceremony in the Young ASEAN Leader Policy Initiative (YALPI) 2023 at Building 3, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.

On 2 February 2023, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in collaboration with the ASEAN Secretariat conducted the virtual workshop entitled “OECD-ASEAN Workshop on Food Security: Sharing Evidence and Policy Experiences” which is a part of a wider project between OECD and ASEAN.

According to the ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) on 12 December 2022, heavy rainfall has caused floods across the southern Malay Peninsula (Malaysia) and northern Sumatra (Indonesia). In Malaysia, 2,550 people have been displaced to 29 evacuation centers across the states of Johor, Kelantan, Pahang, Perak, and Terengganu
The Web meeting on the Development of Training Data for INAHOR Prototyping Project Activity, an activity under the “Promote Rice Planted Area Estimation Using Space-Based Technologies” under Asia Pacific Regional Space Forum (APRSAF) Space Applications for Environment (SAFE) initiative, was held on 15 December 2022 as a virtual meeting with 3 target countries, namely Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Vietnam.
On 2 December 2022, AFSIS Secretariat led by Dr. Waraporn Saelee, AFSIS Manager, and Mr. MIYAKE Yasuhiro, AFSIS Japanese Expert, had opportunities to respectively visit Mr. Chantanon Wannakejohn, Secretary General, Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE), the host of AFSIS Secretariat office. In addition, Mr. MIYAKE Yasuhiro also had an opportunity to visit Mr. Vinit Atisook, Deputy Secretary General of OAE and Mr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of APTERR Secretariat as well.
On 21 November 2022 in Java province, Indonesia, an earthquake of 5.6 magnitudes at a shallow depth of 10 km hit the Cianjur region, triggering landslides and causing buildings to collapse, including schools where classes were underway. The epicenter of the earthquake was on land 10 km southwest of Cianjur Regency (West Java Province). Warnings for heavy rainfall with lighting and strong winds have been issued for 23-25 November over North Sumatra and South Kalimantan Province while light rain is expected across Cianjur Regency (West Java Province).
The Korea Agency of Education, Promotion and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (EPIS), funded and organized the Local Training on Establishing Real-Time AFSIS and Development of Human Resources 3rd Phase Project during 23-25 November 2022, in Vientiane, Lao PDR. Additionally, the training was provided by the EGIS consortium as the instructors.
On 15 November 2022, AFSIS Secretariat attended the Satellite Applications for Societal Benefit Working Group (SAWG) virtually which was the working group session of APRSAF-28 that was held physically in Hanoi, Vietnam during 15-18 November 2022.

On 14 November 2022, the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF) Space Applications for Environment (SAFE) Initiative with the collaboration of Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), Japan, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) of India, Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) of Thailand, Vietnam National Space Center (VNSC), and AFSIS Secretariat organized the online Training Program on Satellite-Derived Rice Planted Area Data for AFSIS’s Rice Growing Outlook (RGO) for Agriculture Management in the ASEAN which is the second training following the previous program in July 2022.
