The 1st meeting of Project for Supporting Agricultural Survey on Promoting Sustainable Agriculture in ASEAN Region (SAS-PSA) had been hold on 23 November 2020 to consult the action plan and progress of SAS-PSA project in Thailand.
Molave, the 9th typhoon in Vietnam in 2020, is one of the two strongest typhoons in Vietnam during the last 20 years. The typhoon Molave caused heavy rain, unprecedented prolonged inundation and severe landslides. This mainly affected provinces in Central Vietnam such as Phú Yên, Quảng Nam, Quảng Ngãi, Thừa Thiên - Huế, Đà Nẵng. The expected damages are substantial with 40 people dead, 43 people missing and 140 people injured and a number of residential areas were isolated by flood and landslides.
Korea Agency of Education, Promotion and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (EPIS), South Korea, hosted Online Webinar as an Invitational Workshop in 2020 on Establishing National Agri-food Information System and its Utilization during 16-18 November 2020 with the participants from 6 countries, namely Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Philippines, and Vietnam, and AFSIS Secretariat.
The AFSIS Secretariat led by Dr.Waraporn Saelee, AFSIS Manager, and Mr.NIIMI Tomohiro, AFSIS Japanese Expert, had opportunities to respectively visit Mr.Rapibhat Chandarasrivongs, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Mr.Chantanon Wannakejohn, Secretary General of Office of Agricultural Economics and Mr.Pollachet Tracho, Duputy Secretary General of Office of Agricultural Economics.
With big contribution of office of Agricultural Economics (OAE), Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Thailand, AFSIS Secretariat has reallocated the office to a new building with the spacious, proportional and good atmosphere to enhance and support AFSIS staff's working capability and creativity which will lead AFSIS Secretariat to achieve the goal to strengthen food security in the ASEAN plus three countries.
The early of August, the Tropical Strom Sinlaku caused heavy rains on a large scale, resulting in floods in Three countries namely Lao, Thailand and Vietnam. Is it affected the food security in the countries, how much effects of the storm to the countries and how the countries encounter with this disaster are including in detail.
The Special Senior Officials Meeting of the 19th Meeting of the ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry Plus Three (SSOM-19thAMAF+3) was held on 5 August 20202 via Video Conference. The host of the meeting was Brunei Darussalam, and it was organized by ASEAN Secretariat.
