The 41th Meeting of the ASEAN Food Security Reserve Board (AFSRB)

On 16 June 2021, The 41th Meeting of the ASEAN Food Security Reserve Board (AFSRB) hosted by Brunei Darussalam was held as a Video Conference through Zoom platform due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The 26 participants of the meeting included AFSRB Secretariat, AFSRB Member States namely; Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, ASEAN Secretariat, APTERR Secretariat, and AFSIS Secretariat had attended the meeting as well.

The representatives from the AFSIS Secretariat are Dr.Waraporn Saelee, AFSIS Manager, Ms. Thanchanok Pongputhinan, Assistant AFSIS Manager, Mr. Tanabodee Kheosipalard, Statistician, and Ms. Poufai Khukhuntin, Project Coordinator staff, had attended this significant meeting.

The objective of this meeting is to be the platform for ASEAN Member States to exchange the data, evaluate and forecast food security situation in ASEAN and global level including the information of producing, consuming, trading, and food reserve for the main crops namely rice, sugarcane, maize, and soybean in 2020-2021.

During the meeting, ASEAN Secretariat reaffirmed the collaboration with relevant organizations, including with AFSIS Secretariat to promote sustainable agriculture in ASEAN countries to ensure the food security in ASEAN, especially during the COVID-19 situation. Dr.Waraporn Saelee, AFSIS Manager, also presented AFSIS key activities as well as cooperative activities during 2020-2021 at the meeting.

At the end of the conference, the Meeting expressed a great appreciation to a productive progress of AFSIS Secretariat.

The 42st Meeting of AFSRB will be hosted by Cambodia for the next year.

Asia and the Pacific Food Systems Forum 2026

On 19 March 2026, the AFSIS Secretariat participated in the Asia and the Pacific Food Systems Forum 2026 under the theme “Feeding the Future, Sustaining the Planet” in Manila, the Philippines, organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) . The forum aimed to promote food security policies, review ADB’s related initiatives, and support long-term food systems transformation.
