The Kick-off Meeting on AFSIS Phase 3 Cooperation Project (Cambodia) – PMC Service

On 19 May 2025, AFSIS Secretariat attended the online Kick-off Meeting on ASEAN+3 Food Security Information System (AFSIS) Phase 3 Cooperation Project (Cambodia) – PMC Service The meeting was conducted in collaboration with the Korea Rural Community Corporation (KRC), the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Cambodia, and EGIS Korea Co., Ltd., as part of the ongoing establishment of Real-Time ASEAN Food Security Information System and Human Resource Development Project – 3rd Phase. This strategic cooperation is part of the pilot project focused on enhancing crop forecasting systems to strengthen food security in Cambodia, forming a critical component of the broader regional initiative.

The meeting was graced by opening remarks from H.E. Ros Soden, Secretary of State of MAFF Cambodia, and Ms. Yu Young-Suk, Assistant Director of the Global Agricultural Development Team at Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA), Mr.Hok Kimthourn, Director of Department of Planning and Statistics (DPS), MAFF of Cambodia, Mr.Han Jong -soo, Representative, KRC, ODA Office in Cambodia. Congratulatory remarks were also delivered by Dr.Sumanya Ngandee, the AFSIS Manager,

Key highlights of the meeting included the presentation of the implementation results from the 1st period, covering the overall project overview, management master plan, system development progress, and capacity-building achievements.

This cooperation marks a significant step in improving the real-time food security information system in Cambodia and contributes to the larger ASEAN+3 effort to strengthen regional food security and resilience.

Asia and the Pacific Food Systems Forum 2026

On 19 March 2026, the AFSIS Secretariat participated in the Asia and the Pacific Food Systems Forum 2026 under the theme “Feeding the Future, Sustaining the Planet” in Manila, the Philippines, organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) . The forum aimed to promote food security policies, review ADB’s related initiatives, and support long-term food systems transformation.
