On 1 September 2021, the Department of Planning and Statistics (DPS), Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), the Kingdom of Cambodia, together with AFSIS Secretariat had conducted the virtual meeting of the 1st meeting in Cambodia as a part of the Project for Supporting Agricultural Survey on Promoting Sustainable Agriculture in ASEAN Region (SAS-PSA) for the 3rd year project (2022). According to the Letter of Agreement (LoA) between AFSIS Secretariat and the DPS, MAFF of Cambodia, it was signed on25 August 2021.
There were 4 delegates from Cambodia attended the meeting, which led by Mr. Mak Mony, Director of DPS, MAFF, Cambodia. Also, 5 delegates were from AFSIS Secretariat led by Mr. NIIMI Tomohiro, the Japanese Expert and Ms. Sumanya Ngandee, Assistant AFSIS Manager.
This consultative meeting’s purpose is to discuss the action plan consisting of 1) project implementation and budget estimation, 2) target province of the pilot survey, 3) pilot survey plan and fieldwork, 4) questionnaires and types of questionnaires, 5) enumerator training and data analysis training, and 6) program for tabulation and analysis of the results from the survey. Moreover, the meeting aims to achieve a mutual understanding in the action plan details.
At the end of the meeting, the DPS preferred to use Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) for the pilot survey questionnaires and also purposed Battambang province as a target province for the field survey of the SAS-PSA project in Cambodia.
On 28 June 2024, the AFSIS Secretariat was invited to join a significant meeting with the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR) Secretariat. The meetings aimed to discuss potential collaboration for exploring the LRBFR and to learn from their experiences over more than 10 years of operating the regional emergency rice reserve and the food security-related information-sharing system. which collaborative by Representatives from the Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE) of Thailand also participated in the discussion.
On 11-12 June 2024, the 22nd AFSIS Focal Point Meeting was conducted at Hybrid in Putrajaya, Malaysia. Hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security of Malaysia, in collaboration with the AFSIS Secretariat. The meeting was chaired by Datuk Azah Hanim Ahmad, Deputy Secretary General (Policy), Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Malaysia.
