Disaster report

AFSIS has disseminated emergency information on agricultural damage caused by natural disasters in the ASEAN region through the project titled "Report and Disseminate Information Regarding Serious Disasters". Implemented since 2023 to strengthen food security, this project aligns with ASEAN’s regional frameworks consisting of the ASEAN Integrated Food Security (AIFS) Framework and the Strategic Plan of Action on Food Security in the ASEAN Region (SPA-FS). It aims to enhance food security information in the region in terms of both quality and quantity, particularly during emergencies.

The Eruption of Mount Dukono on Halmahera Island, Indonesia on 8 May 2026

Mount Dukono has been erupting continuously since 1933, and frequently actively erupted on December 12, 2026. According to the Mount Dukono Volcano Observatory, it reported that the Mount erupted many times on May 8, 2026, and it had impacts on agriculture surrounding areas of North Halmahera District. Additionally, there have no official reports have yet quantified the damage on agricultural crops.
