Mr. Pollachet Tracho, Deputy Secretary General, Office of Agriculture Economics (OAE), and AFSIS Secretariat led by Dr. Waraporn Saelee, AFSIS Manager, and Mr. NIIMI Tomohiro, Japanese Expert, had traveled to Chachoengsao province, Thailand, on 15-17 March 2021 to observe enumerators on conducting pilot survey in the project for Supporting Agricultural Survey on Promoting Sustainable Agriculture in ASEAN region or SAS-PSA project in Thailand.
This pilot survey was designed into 6 teams for collecting the data in 5 districts in Chachoengsao including Phanom Sarakham, Sanam Chai Khet, Bang Nam Priao, Mueang Chachoengsao, and Ban Pho. In this occasion, AFSIS team had joined the teams of enumerators in Phanom Sarakham, Mueang Chachoengsao and Ban Pho district for observation. The main activities were observing how the enumerators were collecting data, ensuring that the enumerators complete their works accurately and in a timely manner, and supporting the enumerators when any query or problems occurred. This pilot survey is expected to finish in April 2021.
On 28 June 2024, the AFSIS Secretariat was invited to join a significant meeting with the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR) Secretariat. The meetings aimed to discuss potential collaboration for exploring the LRBFR and to learn from their experiences over more than 10 years of operating the regional emergency rice reserve and the food security-related information-sharing system. which collaborative by Representatives from the Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE) of Thailand also participated in the discussion.
On 11-12 June 2024, the 22nd AFSIS Focal Point Meeting was conducted at Hybrid in Putrajaya, Malaysia. Hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security of Malaysia, in collaboration with the AFSIS Secretariat. The meeting was chaired by Datuk Azah Hanim Ahmad, Deputy Secretary General (Policy), Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Malaysia.
