On 31 July 2024, The AFSIS Secretariat participated in a significant meeting with the International Institute for Trade and Development (ITD), the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR) Secretariat, a professor from Queen’s University Belfast (QUB), United Kingdom, and experts from various fields. The purpose of the meeting was to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among international experts, aiming to develop strategies aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and conduct a comprehensive global environmental strategic scan to analyze and assess emerging trends, risks, and opportunities relevant to sustainable development.

On Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 22:57 WITA, Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki, one of Indonesia’s 120 active volcanoes, erupted on the island of Flores in East Nusa Tenggara province, The eruption, lasting 24 minutes (1,450 seconds), was recorded with a massive amplitude of 47.3 mm.
