The ASEAN Food Security Information System (AFSIS) in cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, People’s Republic of China hosted the fifteenth workshops on “China-ASEAN Information Management and IT Application of Food Safety Production” during 2-4 September 2019 in Beijing, P.R. China. The objective is to promote the communication of agriculture information system construction in ASEAN, and enhance the ability of agricultural statistics application of officers working on food security.

The workshop hosted 10 participants from almost all ASEAN Member States, namely Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, including AFSIS. The delegates learned about the Industrial Technology of Rice-based Integrated Farming (RIF), Big Data and Agricultural Monitoring and Early Warning, the Development of Eco-agriculture and Evaluation Criteria of Eco-farm in China, Organic Agricultural Production and Trade in China, New Situation and Requirements of Agricultural Products, Quality and safety in China, and the Modern Agricultural Information Servicein China and also visited the Key Laboratory of Digital Agricultural Early-warning Technology and System, Agriculture Information Institute, CAAS. Furthermore, the participants had opportunities to share and discuss on the practices, experience and development of agriculture and agricultural production information management.
